used auto parts : My biggest purchase there was an engine. After calling around and finding anengine on the mainland for $750 plus shipping which had "160 pounds ofcompression in the cylinders, 50 pounds of pressure in the oil pump, andonly 24,000kms" on it I called into Vatchers. They had an engine, $500+shipping... did it work? Well their answer was "it worked when we got it".Damn I wish I had my time back. The engine ran, but nearly everything had tobe swapped from my old engine first. They sawed of the steel hose from thepower steering pump, snipped all the wires off the engine and cut all thehoses. On top of that the oil cap was gone and the round O hole had beensquat and was now a D shaped hole. We had to transplant the intake, thewiring harness, the power steering pump and even the valve cover. It works,a bit better then my burnt out engine used to, but I will do everything inmy power to avoid them from now on. Especially since I found another one ofthose cars in Grand Falls.

Myexperinece is that Vatchers is the best of a bad lot. I agree that Vatcherswill not in most cases hangle over price but the service is alot better thansay Kennys which I'll try to avoid like the plague.Since I drive heaps most of the time I don't go to the places that sellnewer parts like A1.If you can do it I find the best deal in the wants ads with private sales ofeither parts themselves or whole cars for scrapping. Used auto parts can be a tricky deal, but Vatchers is about as good as you'regoing to get.I've dealt with them on a couple of occasions, and I have a mechanic friend whohas dealt with them a lot, and in all cases the customers came away satisfied.
