tires and wheels : One concern I have had though with going to a 40 series tire is thatthe ride will be a lot rougher over bumps.Also, when you go to the 17" wheel and a 215/40/17 tire the diameterof the tire is now 23.8 inches compared to the 23.1 inches of thestock This is 3% larger than the stock tires, so isn't your speedoout by 3% also? I would imagine when it says you are doing 100, youare actually doing 103. Now this isn't that big of a deal, it won'tmean the difference between getting a speeding ticket or notconsidering we all probably do well over 10-20 km/h over the speedlimit all the time anyway :) Another option would be to go with a 205/40/17 this would bring thediameter to 23.4" which is a lot closer, however I don't know if it isworthwhile going to such a narrow tire on a wide rim (most 17" rimsare about 8 to 8.5" (should probably go with the 8"). A 205mm tire isonly 8.1" wide while a 215 is just under 8.5" wide. I assume that the205's won't work on the wider rim, or am I wrong? tires and wheels : The P700-Z is a tire design that is ~10 years old. Nothing wrong withthat, it was the best tire then and still is a good tire. That's whyyou see it for such a low price. About ultra-high performance, I thinkit is labeled by the treadwear rating. My P700-Z 205/50/15V tires havea tread rating of 140, which is pretty soft. Anything rated V, Z, X orW is usually an ultra high performance tire. I bought the starter resincasting kit from Ace Resins out of Arizona, and knocked out a fewcopies of the ties and wheels that I needed. It turned out to be quiteeasy to duplicate the parts.
